SUBJECT: Second in the world: ACE Memorial wins big in the SIFE World Cup

Determination, innovation and a year of hard work has paid off for ACE Memorial. The two-time national champions finished in the final two in the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) World Cup, held Oct. 10-12. This is the best showing of a Canadian team in the history of the World Cup.
The team went head-to-head with teams from Albania, the United States and Nigeria in the final round, as some of the top CEOs from around the world judged to see which group has had the most impact on their community.
Presenting on projects like Moulder of Dreams, the revitalization of a pottery studio that provides therapy and income for residents of Port Hope Simpson, Labrador living with Myotonic Dystrophy; Launch Pad, the only student-run entrepreneurial incubation centre in Canada for student business owners; and Think Green, a profitable and ethical recycling business for elementary school students across Canada and in Malaysia, the U.K. and Zimbabwe, members of the ACE Memorial team showed their commitment to finding entrepreneurial solutions to economic challenges.
Dr. Gary Gorman, dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, was in New York City with the team. He credits ACE Memorial with a job well done.
“They gave a spirited and emotional performance that drew praise from everyone including many of their competitors,” Dr. Gorman said. “My sincere congratulations to the team and their coach, Lynn Morrissey. They were incredible ambassadors for MUN, the province and the country.”
