SUBJECT: PSA: Internationally acclaimed writer Jane Urquhart to read at Memorial

DATE: October 23, 2007

On Tuesday, Oct. 30, acclaimed writer Jane Urquhart will read at Memorial’s St. John’s campus, part of the English Department’s Fall Reading Series.
Dr. Urquhart, who received an honorary doctor of letters from Memorial University in 1999, has authored books of poetry, short fiction, and six bestselling, critically-acclaimed novels. She is also the editor of the just-released Penguin Book of Canadian Short Stories. Her fiction has been translated and published around the world, and has earned many honours including the Governor General’s Award for Fiction, the Marian Engle Prize, the Trillium Award, The Harbourfront International Festival Prize, and France’s prestigious Prix du Meilleur Livre Etranger.
Dr. Urquhart will read on Oct. 30 in the Arts and Administration Building, Room A-1046, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend this free event.
