SUBJECT: Memorial University hosts appreciation BBQ for faculty, staff and retirees
DATE: August 28, 2008
Memorial University is hosting an appreciation BBQ for faculty, staff, and retirees. The BBQ has become a campus tradition in the last few years. The BBQ is happening today, Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, from 3 – 6 p.m., in the Dining Hall and Paton College Courtyard. Over 700 faculty, staff, and retirees of Memorial’s St. John’s campus and Marine Institute are expected at the annual BBQ to enjoy good food, live music and entertainment, some prizes and a great time.
“The annual summer BBQ is an opportunity to acknowledge the work that staff, faculty and retirees do and thank them for their many efforts”, said Lisa Hollett, director of Human Resources. "It is the people of Memorial who work to ensure students achieve and excellence is advanced through teaching, research and service. This BBQ is a great way to say thank you as we come together to celebrate achievements and talk about the future."
Admission to the BBQ is a non-perishable food item or monetary contribution to the Campus Food Bank. The BBQ is supported through campus fundraising and is co-sponsored by Honeywell. An appreciation BBQ for employees at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College campus will be held early in September.
