DATE: June 26, 2008

Graduates of Memorial University of Newfoundland who want to get involved in the decision-making process at the university have a few more days to get their submissions in.
Nominations are now being accepted by the Memorial University Alumni Association for candidates to fill a slate for the election of six alumni representatives to the Board of Regents, the governing body of Memorial.
Alumni representatives are elected for a three-year term which begins Sept. 1.
Nominations for these positions close on July 4, with the election starting July 14 and running until Aug. 18. Voting will take place online at www.munalum.ca with paper ballots available by request at 1.877.700.4081.
Candidates must complete and submit a nomination form which must include their signature, as well as those of the nominator and three seconders. The nomination package should also include a 50-word biography, and photo of the candidate plus contact information. Candidates are encouraged to include a brief statement about why they wish to serve as a member of the Board of Regents.
Candidates, nominators and seconders must be graduates of Memorial University.
Those alumni who hold a salaried position as a member of the faculty or staff at Memorial are not eligible to stand as candidates, nor are those who hold student status at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Elected members are eligible for re-election, but an elected member shall not hold office for more than six consecutive years.
The management, administration and control of the property, revenue, business and affairs of Memorial University are vested in the Board of Regents. Candidates should be able to commit to attend the meetings of the board.
Voting will take place from July 14 to Aug. 18. Biographies and photos of nominees will be posted online at www.munalum.ca with an electronic ballot. Each member of the alumni association may vote only once using the number assigned on their Spring/Summer 2008 edition of Luminus magazine, or their Memorial University Student Number.
Paper-based mail-in ballots are available upon request by calling the Office of Alumni Affairs and Development at 1.877.700.4081. Successfully elected alumni will be notified in the week following the close of elections.
