SUBJECT: PSA: Public lecture to make the case against very long life

Is living forever – or for what feels like forever – really something to aspire to? Dr. Bernard Wills, professor of Religious Studies at Memorial, will ask that question when he delivers the St. John’s Public Lecture in Philosophy on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 8:30 p.m. at The Ship Pub off Duckworth Street.
Dr. Wills will examine the clash between those who defend advancements that could keep people alive much, much longer, and the poets and writers who have imagined immortality as a cursed state. He points to Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Jonathon Swift’s Struldbruggs as examples. After Dr. Wills’ talk, there will be an opportunity for discussion.
