DATE: February 28, 2006

The Division of Community Education and College Relations is gearing up for its brand new lecture series Discover the Internet , taking place March 15-April 5.

“Whether we like it or not, we are living in the cyber-age,” says Marilyn Forward, program developer at Community Education. “For those of us who are not as web savvy as we’d like to be, there is help available.”

Online Learning – The Big Picture , taking place on March 15 and 22, will give participants an overview of what online learning is all about. The instructor will provide a glimpse into the online learning environment through discussions and hands-on practices. You will quickly appreciate the benefits of online learning while you learn several strategies to make the experience successful.

Internet Shopping and Banking will teach participants how to safely and securely bank, shop and purchase on the Internet. Discover and explore sites that offer Internet banking, on-line shopping and resources of particular interest to you. This session will be held March 29.

Finally, Internet-Globetrotting will help you find your dream vacation destination. Learn how to comparison shop to get the best vacation deals available. This session will take place on April 5.

“At Community Education we try to develop courses that meet the everyday needs of the population we serve,” says Ms. Forward. “We hope our patrons will find this Internet series particularly helpful in a time when things seem to be changing constantly.”
