SUBJECT: Alumni Association of Memorial University will hold general meeting of alumni to select new executive and ratify constitution

DATE: December 22, 2005

Gary Peddle, president of the Alumni Association of Memorial University, has announced a general meeting of Memorial alumni for Jan. 19, 2006. The meeting will be held in the Junior Common Room of R. Gushue Hall on the St. John’s campus of Memorial University from 7-9 p.m.

Mr. Peddle said the purpose of the meeting is to ratify a new constitution; elect the new Alumni Association executive (three-year term); and provide an update on developments and activity of the association and the university. Memorial President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Axel Meisen will attend this meeting.

“I would encourage all alumni who are interested in building the strength of the Alumni Association and in giving back to Memorial to attend, either in person or by teleconference,” said Mr. Peddle. He said there is an exciting slate of candidates standing for election to the board and feels that the next three years hold great promise for the association and for the university.

The office of Alumni Affairs and Development has posted a copy of the list of nominees for election to the association executive (http://my.munalum.ca/Voting_Ballot_Executive.doc.) The Alumni Association Constitution is also available on line at http://my.munalum.ca/Constitution-Ver2-MAY20.doc.
