Have you ever wondered what Memorial University has discovered about icebergs and offshore rigs over the last 20 years? For 10 years, Dr. Ian Jordaan held the NSERC-Mobil Industrial Research Chair in Ocean Engineering established in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. Through his ice research, including field work in the Arcticand extensive involvement with industry, Dr. Jordaan has pioneered methods of risk analysis for engineering in harsh environments. He has been involved in several major studies, including several related to arctic shipping. These research programs have led to an appreciation of the importance of high pressure zones in the ice, including their failure. Join Dr. Jordaan as he highlights ice research at Memorial over the past 20 years.
