Security Information

Any information that you send using the online giving form is secured using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) - the industry standard for secure online transactions.

SSL is a technology that ensures a secure communication between your browser (the software that you use to access the Office of Development website) and the Office of Development web server (the computer that stores the Web site pages). It protects any data, including your credit card details, that you send to us by

  • Encrypting the data in a special code, so that it cannot be read by anyone other than the secure server
  • Authenticating both the user and server to determine that they are who they say they are
  • Checking the integrity of the data being transferred to ensure it has not been altered

Note: Memorial University has two servers for data entry, https://www3.mun.ca and https://www3.mun.ca. Either of these may appear in the url address.
