Faculty Fun Facts

Students enrolled in the economics programs at Memorial University benefit from being educated by well-trained economists from across the globe - our faculty members are from Newfoundland and Labrador, the rest of Canada, Africa, Australia, China, Iran, Russia, Spain, and Sweden. These professional economists bring a variety of educational backgrounds and personal experiences to the classroom and to the research environment in which students are encouraged to participate. While the Department of Economics challenges our students so that they are better prepared for the challenges of the workplace, in particular, and life, in general, we want you to be your best and to achieve your goals. With relatively small classes, we get to know our students on an individual level and our students get to know their professors, both as professional economists and as unique individuals. We encourage our students to immerse themselves in applied research so that they have a better understanding of how their lectures relate to the real world and why it is important to think critically about data, statistics and economic concepts that get manifested daily in the real world.
