Prestigious nomination

The Department of History is incredibly proud to learn that Robert Sweeny's book, Why Did We Choose to Industrialize? Montreal, 1819-1849, has been nominated for the François-Xavier Garneau Medal of the Canadian Historical Association / Société historique du Canada.

The François-Xavier Garneau Medal is awarded every five year and "is the most prestigious of the CHA prizes." The prize "honours an outstanding Canadian contribution to historical research."

Robert Sweeny's book has already been awarded the Sir John Macdonald Prize (Canadian Historical Association) / Governor General's History Award for Scholarly Research (2016) for the "most significant contribution to an understanding of the Canadian past."

Congratulations to Professor Sweeny for yet another honour!
