Research Project:
I am interested in the impacts that climate change and human-management practices are having on natural disturbances in forested ecosystems. For my MSc project, I am assessing the distribution and severity of eastern spruce budworm outbreaks in Gros Morne National Park, NL. My research will include a reconstruction of past outbreaks using tree-ring records to better predict future outbreak patterns under climate change. The goal of my research is to support the establishment of sustainable forest management practices that incorporate natural disturbance regimes.
