Oihane Cereceda

Oihane Cereceda is a recent PhD graduate in Computer Engineering from Memorial University. Her doctoral dissertation evaluated the technical, practical, and educational challenges and limitations of open-source flight simulators. She conducted research in the fields of Systems Engineering (Modelling and Simulation), Computer Engineering (open-source software), Aerospace Engineering, and Engineering Education.

She has a keen interest in teaching and has served as a lecturer on Electronics, Digital Systems, Programming, Robotics, and Instrumentation. Oihane is a passionate volunteer and teaches coding skills to researchers and graduate students under The Carpentries (https://software-carpentry.org/), with the objective to help them conduct more efficient and reproducible research.

She is also actively involved with Women in Science and Engineering programs and is the current IEEE Women in Engineering Newfoundland and Labrador Chair.
