Jenny Higgins took over as Interim Director of Memorial University’s Writing Centre in May 2018. Prior to that, she worked as a writer and researcher at the Maritime History Archive. She is also the award-winning author of two books. Perished: The 1914 Newfoundland Sealing Disaster (2014) won the Democracy 250 Atlantic Book Award for Historical Writing, and Newfoundland in the First World War (2016) won the Newfoundland and Labrador Book Award for Non-fiction. Her work has also been published in magazines and newspapers, and broadcast on CBC Radio and Television.
