Welcome to Memorial University's Childcare Centre
Philosophy
At Campus Childcare Inc., we believe that every child is a unique individual, full of potential, curiosity, and capability. We view children as active participants in their own learning—constructors of meaningful experiences that help them make sense of the world around them. Each child brings their own strengths, needs, and interests, and we recognize their natural motivation to learn when they are immersed in a rich, stimulating environment.
We believe that play is the foundation of learning. Through play, children explore ideas, relationships, and the world around them, while developing responsibility through the choices and decisions they make. Play nurtures essential life skills such as problem-solving, creativity, independence, communication, adaptability, cooperation, and the development of a positive self-image.
Our curriculum connects cognitive growth with meaningful, hands-on experiences. Guided by an emergent curriculum approach, our programs are developed through observation, reflection, and collaboration, ensuring that each child's voice, ideas, and actions shape their learning experiences. A balance of structured and open-ended play opportunities supports each child's individual interests, abilities and developmental needs. Learning experiences are designed to be meaningful, relevant, and respectful, informed by current research and best practices in early learning.
We view every child as part of a broader family and community. Diversity is celebrated, and we are committed to providing inclusive, high-quality care and education for children from all social and cultural backgrounds in a safe, nurturing environment. We value relationships built on mutual respect, collaboration, and open communication among children, families, educators, and the wider community.
At Campus Childcare Inc., we believe that high-quality early learning and childcare create lasting benefits for children, families, educators, and society as a whole—laying the foundation for a healthy, compassionate, and thriving community.
