TAUMUN Executive Board 2017-18

President: Ripon Karmaker

Ripon karmaker is a PhD Student in Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He has started his masters at MUN in September, 2016. Back to his country, he has been serving his country as a government employee in Bangladesh Water development Board for more than four years. As a government employee he has completed two international training at Japan and Nepal to represent his country. Those trainings have enhanced his leadership capabilities. He has teaching Experience as a lecturer for more than one year in University of Information, Techonlogy and Science at his home country. He involves in voluteering works for various societies in St. John’s.

First-Vice President: Vidyoot Roy Karmakar

Vidyoot Roy Karmakar is an alumnus of the University of Calcutta and is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Memorial University. Prior to joining the MBA, he worked in the industry back in India for well over five years at ascending levels of responsibilities. Upon his election as the First Vice President of TAUMUN in Nov 2017, he intends to bring in his professional expertise to streamline the organizational workflow and to manage the organizational resources more effectively, with goals of enhancing member experiences and creating more opportunities for them in the long-run. He also volunteers his time as the Vice President for the MBA Students' Association and also as the Academic Director for his Faculty at the Graduate Students' Union of MUN.

Second-Vice President: Md. Abdus Samad Bhuiyan

Samad Bhuiyan is TAUMUN'S second vice-president and he was elected in this position at the TAUMUN'S annual general meeting in October 2016. He is an active member of both the Directly Chartered Local(DCL), Public Service Alliance of Canada(PSAC) and the St.john's Young Worker Committee(SJYWC), PSAC, Atlantic.
His first involvement with this union was during the 2013, teaching assistance working position at the department of mathematics, MUN. Besides TAUMUN, he also engaged in the different societies: Math & Stat Society, Bangladesh Student Association(BSA) at Memorial University. In addition, he was a bargaining committee member of the house rent increasing committee, Baltimore court, MUN in 2016.
Previously, he was an active member of the representing academic worker at Brock University, CUPE 4207, ON, Canada from 2010 to 2012. He also was a member of the executive body of the graduate student union, Brock University, Canada and president of the Noakhali Student Association(NSA), University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Regarding academic success, he was awarded as a Canadian young researcher, student in 2011 by Mprime at the AMMCS conference. Moreover, He got president awards of Memorial University in 2013 and research excellence awards in both the 2014 and 2015 year.
At present, in his role as a vice-president, Mr.Bhuiyan is responsible for the variety of tasks including organizing academic and socio-economic learning sessions for the members. He has always been and continues to be a mouthpiece for all members of the TAUMUN and committed to standing side by side with the members of this union.

Secretary-Treasurer: MD Anan Morshed

MD Anan Morshed is doing his M.Eng. in Civil Engineering department at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is working as Secretary-Treasurer for TAUMUN after being elected at the AGM held in October 2017. Besides, he is working as treasurer of Engineering Graduate Students Society (EGSS). Apart from this, he is actively involved in organizing different events on behalf of EGSS.

Executive-at-Large: Suborno Debnath

Suborno Debnath is currently pursuing his Masters in Civil Engineering and he was elected as an Executive at large 2 in TAUMUN. He is also serving as the Computer and web representative of Engineering Graduate Students Society (EGSS). Suborno Debnath is working to ensure our campus is a fair, open and inclusive place for everyone and has a deep passion for student engagement.
