New surveys will automatically default to the New Survey Taking Experience - starting June 3, 2026

Apr 22nd, 2026

Hello,

This is an email to let you know that soon, newly created surveys will default to the New Survey Taking Experience.

What is the change?

Starting on June 3, 2026, all newly created surveys will automatically default to the New Survey Taking Experience (NSTE). We are making this change because NSTE is our modernized survey design. It is built to be faster, more mobile-responsive, and highly accessible (WCAG 2.2 AA compliant). Any new features (e.g. new question types, security options) will only be supported on NSTE going forward.

Existing live surveys will not be affected or visually altered. Copying an old survey or importing a QSF file will preserve the original layout and theme settings, meaning a copy of a Legacy survey will remain Legacy.

What action do I need to take?

For the vast majority of brands, no action is needed. If your brand strictly requires users to use a Legacy static theme, you may want to review your organization’s Theme settings to ensure a modern alternative is available.

If your team uses custom CSS, custom JavaScript, or automated API survey creation, you may need to make some updates to these areas. Custom CSS and JavaScript may require updates due to NSTE's modernized HTML structure and the removal of default jQuery preloading, and API integrations for survey creation may need adjustment if automated workflows attempt to add question types not yet supported by NSTE. Please see the FAQ section of the support page for details.
