Kyle White
Geography Honours student wins multiple awards

In recent months, Kyle White has received three awards in recognition of academic and professional success. Kyle won the Pro-Vice Chancellor’s Prize after Dr. Cedric Brunelle submitted his paper, “The Absence of Sustainable Management: Applying Resource Cycles to Newfoundland and Labrador” to a writing competition. The paper was one of two awarded the prize and is the fourth Geography student to win.

Shortly after Kyle was awarded the Dean of Arts scholarship given his academic performance while being on the Dean’s list.

Most recently Kyle was selected for the David Curran award in recognition of his contributions to rural research and academic performance related to regional development. The award is in memory of David Curran, a dedicated researcher who gave rural Newfoundland and Labrador a voice when advocating their issues.

Kyle has also been accepted to the University of Saskatchewan and will start his Master’s in Public Policy at the Johnson Shoyama School of Graduate Studies. Kyle’s research will focus on innovation and regional development policy related to the resource-based economy in Northern Saskatchewan. This research will be supervised by Dr. Ken Coates, Canada Research Chair in regional innovation.
