Important Message to all Nursing students in the BN Program

This message is being sent to all Students of the BN (Collaborative) program at MUNFON, CNS and WRSON

Good Day Students,

Thank-you for your commitment to your courses and clinical placements over the past week of evolving precautions in advance of an anticipated spread of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador. We have worked closely with, and been directed by, Memorial University, the RHA’s and the Medical Officer of Health in regards to your safety and the integrity of your program of studies.  We know you have been concerned about how each of these decisions may impact you.

Please be advised that:

  • Clinical placements for students in years 1, 2, and 3 of the four-year option, accelerated option, and Fast Track option will be suspended effective at the end of the day Tuesday, March 17th. Clinical occurring this evening will go ahead.

  • Year 4 students completing NURS 4512 and NURS 4516 will continue in their placements.  These clinical placements are being evaluated daily and students will be notified immediately if any change occurs.

  • NURS 2520 and the winter offering of NURS 1520 (MUNFON & CNS) will not proceed as scheduled. Alternate scheduling arrangements will be communicated to students at a later date.

  • We currently plan on NURS 3523 proceeding as scheduled. This will continue to be dependent on how the pandemic situation in the province unfolds. It is possible that this course will be postponed to occur at a later date.

  • We plan that spring and summer courses for accelerated students and special offerings of Year 1 courses (MUNFON) will proceed as scheduled.  This too is dependent on how the pandemic situation in the province unfolds. It is possible that these courses may be postponed to occur at a later date.

Please understand that these times are extenuating and unprecedented.  We can appreciate that there is considerable uncertainty regarding course completion at this time. Please know that we are working diligently to ensure that plans are put in place to support students in the continuation and completion of courses.
