Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT): Creating Clearer Assignments in the Age of AI

Students often struggle to interpret assignment instructions and understand what is expected of them. When expectations are unclear, students may turn to generative AI for guidance. The evidence-based Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) framework helps instructors make assignments clearer, reduce unnecessary barriers to assignment completion, and create more equitable learning experiences for students in any discipline.

This is a two-part workshop on October 22 and October 29. In Part A, participants will explore the research behind TILT and learn the core components of the framework.  Part B will be a hands-on session where participants will revise one of their own assignments by exploring practical examples and using the TILT framework.

Participants are encouraged to bring an assignment prompt or set of assignment instructions to both sessions.

This is a hybrid session (offered online and in-person).

Please note: These sessions will not be recorded.

If attending online, it is recommended that you attend this session using one of the following internet browsers:  Chrome, Microsoft Edge (Chromium) or Firefox. You can join the session 10 minutes before the start time.
