Theme: Pedagogy, Practice, and Purpose in the Age of GenAI

Memorial University’s Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) is very pleased to host this year's Atlantic Universities’  Teaching Showcase. 

This will be a fully online event! 

This year’s theme, Pedagogy, Practice, and Purpose in the Age of GenAI explores how generative AI (GenAI) is challenging the foundational pillars of the university, specifically in how we teach (Pedagogy), how we research and perform scholarly work that informs our teaching (Practice), and why we educate (Purpose).  

Instead of treating GenAI as merely a technical tool or a disruption to manage, this theme invites faculty to engage in critical dialogue on maintaining academic rigor, preserving human-centered interactions and critical thinking, and upholding scholarly excellence.   

The 2026 Showcase will focus on three areas of interest:     

1. Authentic Pedagogy and Assessment: Adapting curriculum, teaching strategies, and evaluation methods 
2. The Learning Experience: Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Accessibility, Equity and Inclusion, Academic Integrity    
3. SoTL and AI-Accelerated Research: Exploring scholarly research that directly clarifies our core educational purpose and informs classroom practice
