Teaching Development Days: Designing Your Assessments
CITL is pleased to host Teaching Development Days from May 5-7, 2026. Teaching Development Days is a professional learning event that supports Memorial's faculty and instructional staff in strengthening their teaching practice across all modes of course delivery.
Day 2 Theme: Assessing for Learning
This workshop, Designing Your Assessments, examines the importance of aligning assessments with course learning outcomes and designing clear writing assignment prompts.
Practical strategies will be shared to improve assignment design and student learning outcome alignment.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the role and importance of aligning your assessments to course learning outcomes.
- Design clear and transparent writing assignment prompts using specified criteria that support meaningful learning and fair assessment.
Participants are invited to bring course syllabi, descriptions of assessments and samples of previously used assessments.
This is a hybrid session (offered both online and in person in the Instructional Classroom in the QEII Library).
