Award for Biochemistry Student

Biochemistry major, Peter Gregory, was awarded the AUS swimming student-athlete (male) community service award at the championship banquet held on February 6th at the Holiday Inn Hotel in St. John's.  The banquet preceded the 2014 Subway AUS swimming championships hosted by Memorial University.

The female award went to Suzanne Nicholson, a business student at UPEI.

Peter was cited for his volunteer activities with the Special Olympics swimming program with both the Learn to Swim program and coaching athletes with previous swimming experience.   He also volunteers at Health Sciences.  Team coach, Aaron Dahl, noted that Peter maintains "a very high GPA and performance level with the Memorial Sea-Hawks men's swim team".

During the championships, Peter placed 7th, 9th, and 5th, respectively in the 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke events, and 9th in the 200m Individual Medley.
