Travel policies consultation – book your time today
President’s Executive Council (PEC) has approved a policy proposal related to the development of a new travel policy with a view to combine the following policies and procedures:
- Graduate Student Field Trips
- Relocation Guidelines - Postdoctoral Fellows
- Travel – General
- Travel - Familiarization Visit
- Travel - Guest Lecturers and Other Official Visitors
- Travel - Pre-Employment Interview
- Travel - Relocation and Removal
- Travel – Regents Policy
- Travel (Chancellor)
A working group has been formed and invites the Memorial community to provide experiences and feedback during this early drafting phase of policy development.
Sessions are available in 25-minute intervals on the following dates:
- Feb. 18, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Feb. 19, 2026 from 1 to 4 p.m.
- Feb. 24, 2026 from 1 to 4 p.m.
- Feb. 26, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In preparation for your meeting with the working group, interested parties are encouraged to limit feedback to the policies mentioned above and consider the following questions:
- What in the current polices is working well?
- What would you like to see change?

This policy work aligns with Memorial’s commitment to address 2023 recommendations of the Auditor General’s Office, which included updating policies as well as reviewing the oversight of the travel policies.
It is anticipated that a revised policy recommendation will be submitted for approval at the June meeting of the Board of Regents.
