Evaluating Public Engagement at Memorial
Understanding the impact of public engagement at Memorial is a crucial element of the Office of Engagement.
As stewards of the Public Engagement Framework, the Office of Engagement conducts regular monitoring and evaluation. These activities help us develop programming and opportunities that respond to the actual public engagement needs of Memorial, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and public partners.
Evaluation of the Public Engagement Framework (2012-2020)
In 2023, a comprehensive review of the impacts of the Public Engagement Framework at Memorial and within Newfoundland and Labrador was conducted. An expert working group on Public Engagement was established (now called the Public Engagement Practitioner's Network), and the Public Engagement Framework Evaluation Committee both participated in the planning and execution of the evaluation. The evaluation process included representation from students, faculty, staff, and public partners.
Several products were developed to share the findings of the evaluation:
- Full Evaluation Report, including results, case studies, methodology, and appendices.
- Evaluation Report Highlights, offering a more concise overview of the results
- Online dashboard, allowing users to sort the data from the faculty and staff survey according to specific interests
Along with assessing the current state of public engagement at Memorial and providing accountability, the findings have helped contribute to the Public Engagement Framework renewal process, currently underway.
