Canada Research Chairs

The Canada Research Chairs Program was established by the Government of Canada to enable Canadian universities to achieve the highest levels of research excellence. The program invests up to $311 million per year to attract and retain some of the world’s most accomplished and promising minds. Chairholders aim to achieve research excellence in engineering and the natural sciences, health sciences, humanities, and social sciences. They improve our depth of knowledge and quality of life, strengthen Canada's international competitiveness, and help train the next generation of highly skilled people through student supervision, teaching, and the coordination of other researchers' work.

There are currently 17 active Canada Research Chairs at Memorial University, with many of these focused on Cold Oceans and Northern research. They are listed below. You can view the full list here.
