Engagement and Outreach

The Labrador Institute Research Station works to promote research engagement and outreach in the region. In 2018, the LIRS participated in Memorial University’s Research Week by hosting a Research Open House and currently works in partnership with the Innu Nation, the Nunatsiavut Government, the NunatuKavut Community Council and the Torngat Plants and Wildlife Secretariat to run the Labrador Lands and Waters Science Camp.

Outreach projects currently underway include participation in Science Literacy Week and establishing a weather station with open-access data for community members.

We are always open to working together on future research and engagement and outreach initiatives. If you would like to get in contact with us about this, please contact the Facilities and Logistics Coordinator by email (alicia.penashue@mun.ca) or phone (709-896-4689).
