Talks continue between Memorial University and MUNFA toward a collective agreement
Negotiating teams for the university and MUNFA met over two days (Aug. 17-18) this week to continue the work toward a mutually agreeable collective agreement for the university’s 800 faculty members.
The session focused on reviewing opening proposals from each team with discussion to better understand the respective positions and ask questions for deeper understanding.
The university’s proposals reflect Memorial’s deliberate evolution toward a stronger and more sustainable university – one that continues to put students first, concentrates on areas of strength and impact, and fulfills its special obligation to the people of this province.
The next set of meetings are scheduled for Sept. 15-16.
“The meetings this week were important to allow for deeper understanding of proposals, and both teams are focused on working through the process with diligence,” said Scott Kelly, director, Faculty Relations on behalf of Memorial’s bargaining team. “We are committed to returning to the table in September ready to advance discussions and continue the important work together to conclude a negotiated collective agreement.”
