Can Fracking Be Done in a Sustainable Way?

The Harris Centre and the Environmental Policy Institute, Grenfell Campus, are hosting a one-day workshop to explore the complexity of the prospect of hydraulic fracking on the West Coast.

The use of hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) to recover oil and gas is generating a great deal of discussion in Western Newfoundland. This event is meant to bring together local residents with various perspectives about fracking in order to discuss the issue in a non-partisan and respectful manner.

The event will begin with a panel featuring:

  • Dean Ball, Mayor of Deer Lake
  • Anne Marceau, Fracking Awareness Network of Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Chris Noseworthy, Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade

This event is open to representatives of organizations from civil society, academia and all levels of government, as well as to individual citizens.

Participation in the workshop is free, but registration is required. Lunch will be provided.
