Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to complete the Student Experience Survey?

Students pursuing a credential at any campus of Memorial University who are registered in the winter semester will receive an email invitation to complete the survey.

How do I access the Student Experience Survey?

The survey is made available to eligible students through a direct invitation and personal link sent to their Memorial email account.

Why didn’t I receive an invitation to complete the Student Experience Survey?

Individuals who are attending a campus of Memorial but are not seeking a Memorial credential or are not engaged in an undergraduate, graduate, diploma or certificate level of study are not included in the population for this survey. These exceptions include concurrent studies, visitor/exchange, ESL and post-graduate admission types.

Is the Student Experience Survey anonymous?

Survey responses are kept confidential by the Centre for Institutional Analysis and Planning (CIAP) and results are reported in aggregate/summary form only. The survey is not anonymous as it is administered using individual links. This ensures the integrity of the results and allows limited data from the Banner student system to be merged with survey responses at the analysis stage. Information about campus, level of study, year of study, admission type and degree/major information can then be included with the survey responses and this information does not need to be collected through additional survey questions. This linked data will also facilitate the prize draw so that winners can be contacted at their @mun.ca email address. Refer to the survey’s Privacy Statement for complete details. CIAP will never release identifying information from the results of this survey.

How are the results of the Student Experience Survey used?

Survey results are summarized in aggregate form only with no identifying information included and are shared widely. The information can be used by academic and administrative units and entities to improve student experiences, enhance services to students, support academic unit planning and review processes, and meet accountability and reporting requirements.

Will the results of the Student Experience Survey be shared with students?

A summary report of survey results will be prepared following each administration and made available publicly on this webpage in the spring semester.
