Collaborative Applied Research in Economics
An overview of CARE, the Collaborative Applied Research in Economics initiative as to our vision and who we are.
This initiative brings together applied research economists who are located in Newfoundland and Labrador or in the Maritimes. Our objective is to promote applied economic research within the region with a view to promoting a greater understanding of our economies and any associated wider social impacts. In carrying out our research we seek to involve students who will improve their skills and hopefully their interests in carrying out further research in this area thus increasing our knowledge capital.
CARE is administered through the Department of Economics at Memorial University of Newfoundland by Wade Locke, Scott Lynch and Doug May. It is funded by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Husky Energy, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Memorial University.
Researchers who are interested in applying for funding should write up to a one page outline to one of the three CARE principal investigators: Wade Locke, Scott Lynch or Doug May outlining the research idea. A complete application form is now available.
