This is an amazing time to go into computing, with unprecedented opportunities. Computers are a ubiquitous and growing presence in all aspects of modern society, and thus there is large and increasing demand for computing professionals that is far from being met by the profile of today's graduates. This is why unemployment is near zero for Computing Professionals, and Computing Professionals earn some of the highest salaries in the North America. But it's not just the money and jobs that make Computing such an exciting profession - Computing-related careers are some of the most versatile, creative, and satisfying career choices you can make, and computational thinking and skills are valuable complements to virtually all other career areas.
If you choose our discipline, the department of Computer Science will welcome you as one of the most caring academic units on campus. Computer Science is judged as not the easiest topic among disciplines, but it offers enormous benefits in that it exposes you to the latest technologies in a vibrant industry. Think of the most dynamic companies you have dealt with in recent times. Perhaps the list would include LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard? All these companies work with scores of computer scientists, many are founded by computer scientists.
With 25 faculty members we offer two undergraduate degree programs, a bachelor of Science and a bachelor of Arts. On the graduate level, we offer two MSc programs, one thesis-based, another course-based, with coop placements in industry. We also offer a research-heavy PhD program. Currently, 110 undergraduate students and 60 graduate students are enrolled in our programs.
