Step 1. Click Tools, Email Accounts…
Step 2. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, click Next.
Step 3. Select your POP settings and click Remove
Please Note: This will not delete your email, it will simply remove settings.
Step 4. Click Yes to confirm that you wish to remove the POP settings.
Step 5. Click Add to configure IMAP settings.
Step 6. Under Server Type select IMAP, click Next
Step 7. Enter your User Information as requested. Then enter your Server Information as incoming server - mail.mun.ca and outgoing server - smtp.mun.ca. Under Login Information enter your Username and Password (only enter your password if you wish for Outlook to remember it and not prompt for it every time.)
Please note: if you are using an internet service provider other than MUN, then you will need to ask your Internet Service Provider for the proper SMTP settings for your e-mail. Click Next
Step 8. Click Finish.
Step 9. Your mail will now be listed under the header mail.mun.ca – your folders should automatically sync with Webmail, i.e., should look exactly like your e-mail and folders in Webmail. If they do not sync, close Outlook and open it again.
With IMAP setup, your e-mail and e-mail folders under the mail.mun.ca header should look exactly the same as your e-mail and e-mail folders in Webmail. It is recommended that you delete unnecessary e-mail since there are quota limitations for your e-mail account, or move e-mail from the mail.mun.ca folders to your Personal Folders under Outlook Today. These folders are only available on your personal computer, and will not sync with Webmail.
