The Academic Advising Centre is the administrative unit of Memorial University whose major responsibility is the first-year student. From our many years of experience in talking to students in high schools and in the university we have obtained a good idea of the types of questions and concerns you have. This booklet, A Guide to First Year, attempts to answer many of your queries about the first year at Memorial University.
The Guide includes a general introduction to Memorial University, information on admission requirements, faculty advisers, the library, housing, finances, and specialized services offered to first-year students. There is an extensive section on course requirements for entrance into specific faculties and schools, as well as descriptions of first-year courses.
