For Distance Students
The Writing Centre is pleased to offer services for MUN distance students who are residing outside of the greater St. John's area. (Outside of the greater St. John's area is defined as living an hour or more outside of St. John's. If you live in the greater St. John's area, we ask that you use our in-person services.)
For these distance students, we have an online service for students to ask writing-related questions and to submit documents for tutoring. Our tutors work with online paper submissions much as they do with in-person tutorials by providing feedback on the assignment and making suggestions on ways to improve student writing. Please be aware, though, that just as with our in-person tutorials, our tutors do not edit student work; we are focused instead on helping students become better writers and self-editors.
As well, please do not request multiple sessions. We are only able to assign one request at a time, and students should expect a minimum 48-hour delay (business days) until a tutor is available. Moreover, we would encourage you to apply any feedback you receive during your session to future papers.
Please send all attachments as .doc or .docx files.
Note: If you submit a group paper to the online system, all of the authors must also send us an email granting us permission to work on the paper. Send emails to: email@example.com.
Note: The online system will be taken down at NOON on Tuesday, April 2. That is the last day we can accept online submissions during the winter 2019 semester.
