The Office of Public Engagement
Memorial's Office of Public Engagement (OPE) is the steward of the Public Engagement Framework. The OPE is a catalyst for action on public engagement at Memorial, working with internal and external groups to design programs and initiatives that advance the goals and objectives of the Framework.
The OPE also provides leadership and supports for a range of Public Engagement-related units and activities within Memorial, and is the lead on strategic external relations for the university. The Office is also home to Memorial's Northern Liaison, responsible for developing networks and connections related to Memorial's northern and Arctic work.
The Executive Director, Public Engagement, is also responsible for the Leslie Harris Centre of Regional Policy and Development (Harris Centre).
The Harris Centre provides operational and communications supports to the Office of Public Engagement and the units that report to it, including the Memorial University Botanical Garden and the Newfoundland Quarterly. The Office of Public Engagement is also facilitating the redevelopment of Memorial's Battery Facility.
