VP Internal Affair
I am Ghazia and I am completing my Joint Honors degree with the Faculty of Science. As a keen advocate of equity and inclusiveness of education, my goals in the MSA are to help promote inter-religious dialogue in an effort to eradicate racism and Islamophobia.
I look forward to serving the Muslim community at Memorial University. I hope that, Insha’Allah, I can fulfil these goals as the VP Internal Affair of the MSA.
Salam! I'm Shakeel! Currently in my third year of Computer Engineering. I have been part of the MSA since Fall 2018. My journey started with volunteering in the weekly Friday Prayers (Jummah) at the multi-faith Chapel and the daily iftar for students at the University Center.
I have been helping the team at the financial end for over a year now. MSA is more than a student society. It is a safe space for many students to practice their believes and culture; it has built a community for international and non-international students in St. John's to bond and share their cultures and experience. It is a pleasure to be on the front line of MSA's great initiatives and activities for the Muslim community here.
VP Religious and Education Affairs (Brothers)
I am Zaid Saeed Patel enrolled in the Master of Applied Science Energy Systems Engineering program in the first year. This is my first year with the Muslim Student Association as their VP of Religious and Educational Affairs. My roles which I have to handle are doing arrangements for Jumua Prayer along with five times daily prayer, providing valuable knowledge of Islam to the Memorial Community, and
sharing Islamic resources and materials. Besides this, registering, notifying, and scheduling khatibs for Friday Prayer. In addition to this, selecting khatibs along with President and other executives.
We schedule many Islamic events at MUN for brothers and sisters to have a deep understanding of our beloved religion. However, I am always ready to help MSA and can do my best what I can. May Allah provide me strength and the right direction to do all for the sake of Allah's happiness. Don’t hesitate to contact me.
VP Religious and Education Affairs (Sisters)
Nusaiba Nasir Uddin
Year and Program: 4th Year Geography (BSc.)
AsalamuAlaykum (Peace Be Upon You)
The chance to see Allah (God) is the greatest thing that could happen to the ruh (soul) and my hope is exactly that. I want to motivate others including myself to try to qualify for this by striving to follow the Sunnah of Muhammad (s.a.w) who was the perfect Muslim. Albeit it is ultimately Allah’s decision as to who He will show Himself to.
The Muslim Students Association fosters steadfastness, truthfulness, justice, brotherhood/sisterhood, compassion, and Islamic education/etiquette. I am here to help sisters find useful resources, help host or execute Islamic lectures/events, halaqas, Quran circles, dawah sessions, Jumu’ah prayers, potlucks, and other halal recreational activities In Sha Allah.
Please feel free to reach out to me.

I grew up in the middle-east, and I have spent my teenage years and the beginning of my adulthood years here, as well. As a result, I developed a strong emotional attachment to its culture and heritage, which is mostly Islamic.
