Comprehensive Examination

The comprehensive consists of two parts: the submission of a final journal project and an oral examination on the contents and procedures of the journal.

The examination committee shall normally consiste of three members is appointed by the Dean of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the Director of Studies.

The oral examination is to explore the student's program as it is outlined in the journal, to question statements, and, when necessary, to make suggestions for improvement or correction.

The student will be asked to defend statements, clarify positions, or expand upon claims.

The grade for the comprehensive is either acceptance of the journal as is, a conditional acceptance for which corrections or revisions must be made, or failure.
