A Fine Crowd

A Fine Crowd is an annual reception offering an opportunity for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to demonstrate and celebrate the accomplishments of our colleagues and the important contributions of the Faculty to the life of Memorial University as a whole.

This event honours authors who have published books in the past academic year, recipients of the Dean’s Awards, research grant recipients and those faculty members who have received special recognition in the past academic year. The William J. Kirwin Award for retiree recognition is also presented at this event as is the Peter Cashin Prize.

Electronic and print material are accepted. However, all submitted material must be peer-reviewed or published by an academic or trade publisher (and have an ISBN.) No self-published books shall be eligible.

A virtual celebration for A Fine Crowd 2020 was held via Facebook on March 25 at 1 p.m. Newfoundand time.

A Fine Crowd is the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences' annual event honouring grant and award recipients and book authors from the previous calendar year. In March 2021, a virtual celebration was held in lieu of the usual live event, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
