Dr. Liang is an Associate Professor with Memorial University of Newfoundland. She obtained her Ph.D. degree from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada in 2013.
From 1995 to 1999, she served as a lecturer at Northeastern University, Shenyang, China. In October 2001, she joined Schlumberger in Edmonton, Canada, and was promoted to be a Principal Power Systems Engineer in 2009 with this large oil service company. After serving Schlumberger for almost 12 years, she joined Washington State University in Vancouver, Washington, United States in August 2013. From August 2013 to May 2015, she was a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Washington State University. In July 2015, she joined Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, Canada.
Dr. Liang is a registered professional engineer in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. She is a Senior Member of IEEE, and serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications and IEEE Industry Application Magazine. Her research areas include:
- Power system dynamics – load modeling;
- Renewable energy integration;
- Synchrophasor technology and smart grids;
- Power system applications in oil field facilities;
- Electric machines – condition monitoring;
- Power electronic devices in power systems.
