While this year’s Spring Convocation ceremonies were postponed due to COVID-19, Memorial was keen to celebrate students having completed their academic programs!
Everyone was invited to tune in on Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. to enjoy Hats Off! a 40-minute Facebook Live virtual event celebrating Memorial's class of 2020!
Watch the recording of a fun and inspiring online celebration featuring comedian Trent McClellan, musician and author Alan Doyle, President Vianne Timmons, musical group Fortunate Ones and member of the class of 2020 Jenny Mallard.
Memorial University graduates were not alone in celebrating convocation virtually. Social distancing orders forced universities worldwide to cancel or postpone the gathering of friends and family in traditional in-person ceremonies.
The Governor General and Prime Minister released messages to graduates across the country recognizing their achievements at this challenging and unprecedented time.
- Congratulations to the Memorial University 2020 graduating class from the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada.
- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s commencement speech to 2020 post-secondary graduates.
From video backgrounds to Facebook Frames, we also assembled some custom tools to help students share photos and videos to celebrate graduation! Visit mun.ca/convocation/celebration for #MUNgrad2020 virtual resources.
