Cathy Duke, BSW'79, MBA'83
Cathy Duke has been the CEO of Destination St. John’s (DSJ) for the last six years where she directs sales and marketing efforts in attracting meetings and conventions, leisure travel and sport tourism to the destination. Prior to this, Ms. Duke served as Deputy Minister with the Government of Newfoundland & Labrador for four years, leading departments of Tourism Culture and Recreation (TCR) and Innovation Trade and Rural Development (INTRD). Previously she served for two years as the ED of the Ireland Business Partnerships (IBP), eight years as President of the Terra Nova Golf Resort and the Clarenville Inn, two years as ED of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador (HNL), six years as ED of the Economic Recovery Commission (ERC), two years as VP of Coastal Associates and Consultants Ltd. and six years with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. Her current board appointments include the Faculty of Business Advisory Board, St. John’s Sports and Entertainment, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada and the Destination Marketing Association of Canada. Her charitable boards include the Stella Burry Foundation and the Shorefast Foundation. Ms. Duke holds a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) ’79 and a Masters of Business Administration (M.B.A) ’82.
