Memorial University offers competitive funding packages to academically eligible full-time graduate students, both Canadian and international, in eligible programs.
Select PhD students will also automatically be considered for the School of Graduate Studies Dean's Doctoral Award, through a competitive process. The award is an additional funding incentive amount of $5,000 per year for up to four years, which is separate from additional Fellowships, TAs and supervisor grant stipends.
Graduate students undertaking studies in marine animal behaviour, marine conservation, coastal community revitalization or a current fishery challenge can also apply for The Dr. Jon Lien Memorial Scholarship.
Post-secondary students have until Feb. 7 to submit applications for the prestigious Research and Development Corporation's (RDC) Ocean Industries Student Research Award. The competition targets undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in pursuing ocean industries-related studies and research in Newfoundland and Labrador at Memorial University, its Marine Institute, or the College of the North Atlantic.
Awards range in value from up to $7,500 per award for undergraduate research and $20,000 to $30,000 per year at the graduate level. Research supervisors will also receive funding to support their supervisory work. Applications are due by 4 p.m., Feb. 7.
Graduate Students' Union Award for Leadership - This scholarship, valued at $1,000, is presented annually to a full-time graduate student with a demonstrated leadership ability, either through participation in student and university activities, and/or contribution to the larger community.
