"REND YOUR HEARTS!"
I cheerfully and prayerfully give a little of my experience as an humble living witness for Jesus.
My first conviction about baptism and my soul's salvation occurred under the preaching of Elder A. X. Shoemaker, upon the text, "Rend your hearts, and not your garments!" (Joel 3:13). These words so affected my heart, that I saw was no other help than to yield and give myself up, and cry to God for mercy. No sooner did I yield than I obtained the blessing. I thank God for it.
My temptations have been few, since then, but though they should yet be many and great, I hope to continue faithful to the cause of Christ. I am now sorry that I did not set out earlier in life to do my duty toward God. I trust to survive the storms of life, and reach a crown that never fades, reserved for the faithful. Religion is calculated to make a man happy. I ask the prayers of my brethren in Christ.
