SEEKING AND FINDING PEACE.

I know of a truth that the Lord has power on earth to forgive sins. At an early age I was thrown among strangers, and lived in wicked carelessness till I was twenty-two, when I married. My wife soon embraced religion, which caused me to feel deeply the condition of my own soul. She prayed for me and conversed with me about the matter. Two years later, there was a protracted religious meeting in Churchtown, Pennsylvania, which I avoided, and went instead to a shooting match. While there, I was severely convicted, and on returning home, when my wife told me of several relatives who had taken a step on the Lord's side, the news was like a dagger to my soul. A sad night passed, in which I had no rest.

At last I made up my mind that if there was mercy for me, I would seek it, and went to a meeting held at brother John Bricker's house. Elder Edward West preached. At that meeting the Lord spoke peace to my soul. This was twenty-five years ago, and I feel that I am still on my way to glory. I have enjoyed much happiness in my faith, and through the grace of God, I expect to reach heaven.
