The electronic edition of John Winebrenner in the Gospel Publisher and Church Advocate has been transcribed from a bound typsecript of the work. Thanks to Glenn E. Beatty for making available his copy of the bibliography for this purpose.

      While this work is a serviceable source for scholarly research on the life and writings of John Winebrenner, this bibliography must be considered a preliminary effort, requiring an editor with ready access to the volumes of the Gospel Publisher and the Church Advocate to refine the entries. (1) The titles of articles, reviews, sermons, letters, and so forth, need to be set off by quotation marks, so that the titles as given in the periodicals are identified clearly, and thus not confused with annontations provided by the compilers. (2) The annotations themselves need to be cast as third-person objective statements. (3) Full dates need to be given in all entries. (4) A consistent format needs to be developed for the order of information in the entries. (5) The use of abbreviations needs to be standardized. I have attempted only to address the last two of the proposed conventions.

      The electronic edition differs from the bound typescript in the following respects: (1) The facts of publication have been set in boldface type. (2) Authors of articles and letters have been set in italic type; where the author has not been specified, or given as "Anonymous" in the typescript, the authorship has been designated as Unsigned. (3) Spelling and punctuation errors have been silently corrected. (4) Titles of books, pamphlets, and periodicals have been set in italic type. (5) Abbreviations have been eschewed. (6) Pagination of the typescript has been indicated by placing the page number in square brackets following the last complete word on a page.

      Addenda and corrigenda are earnestly solicited.
