CHAPTER XIV.
S M A L L E R G E R M A N S E C T S.
2. There are the WINEBRENNARIANS, so-called from their founder being a Mr. Winebrennen, a pious and zealous German, who resides, if still alive, in eastern Pennsylvania, where his followers are chiefly found. They form several congregations, and are said to be quite evangelical in their doctrines, and, as a body, irreproachable in their lives. Their ministers, though not well informed, have the reputation of being devoted, laborious, and useful men. Winebrennen seems to have commenced his labours among the Germans very much in the spirit and with the aim of Hans Honga in Norway.
