Transferring from Another Nursing Program

Applicants wishing to transfer from another nursing program commonly do not receive transfer credit for many, if any, nursing courses previously completed. This is due to external nursing course objectives not matching exactly with the nursing course objectives at Memorial University. Due to this, if applicants are accepted, they often do not advance beyond Year 1 of our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Collaborative) Program.
Transferring into the BScN (Collaborative) Program from another nursing program can be a complicated and lengthy process.

Deadline to Apply:

Students who are interested in transferring into the BScN (Collaborative) Program at Memorial University from another nursing program must submit an application by January 20.

Must Meet Admission Requirements:

Interested applicants must meet all admission requirements to either the 4-Year Option or the Accelerated Optionfor which they are applying, as well as the admission/readmission requirements to Memorial University.

Transfer Credit Steps:

If an applicant obtains admission to the BScN (Collaborative) Program, a transfer credit evaluation will then be initiated to determine if equivalent Memorial University nursing course(s) and credit(s) can be awarded.

Official transcript(s) and course descriptions and/or outlines of courses claimed for credit are required and should be sent directly to the Office of the Registrar, Memorial University, from the institution the applicant attended.

In order to allow sufficient time for evaluation, these documents should be received at least two months prior to the commencement of the registration period for the semester to which the applicant is seeking admission. It is the applicant's responsibility to provide the pertinent documents and to ensure they are received.
