Welcome to Memorial
I joined Memorial as the director of Human Resources on January 31, 2011 following a 24-year career in human resource management in the health care industry. I am a graduate of Memorial, having completed a bachelor of commerce (co-operative) degree here. I look forward to working with all academic and administrative units to lead the continuing renewal of human resources policies and processes. Together, we will continue to create a more outstanding work environment for all employees.
We work proactively in all kinds of ways to ensure our people practices are congruent with the University's mission, vision, and culture. Our guiding principles enable us to achieve Memorial's vision through innovation and supportive people practices.
HR touches the lives of all employees at Memorial - from recruiting and orientation to learning and development, career advancement, retirement and all steps in between. Awards and recognition is important, as is a focus on work-life balance and being well.
We take great care with our responsibilities, and dedicate time, energy, creativity and financial resources to ensuring Memorial, as a workplace, is healthy and sustains the need for learning, challenge, and civility. Our staff members are committed to supportive people practices and work thoughtfully and respectfully in every situation to provide information and support, and to find sustainable solutions.
Through various units of HR, we provide services to staff and faculty members in a friendly and professional manner. While some units spend more time with individual employees and others work more closely with administrators, we recognize that our role sustains all faculty and staff members. We believe in the capacity, development, and potential of individuals and teams.
We strive to continue challenging our practices and policies to reflect an evolving community of supportive, successful individuals, all of whom are valuable members of a global community.
Memorial University is committed to quality, growth, and connection to the community - all of which begins with people who are highly effective and innovative. Whether you're considering working with Memorial or celebrating service of 45 years, our progressive policies and collaborative creativity support success, integrity, productivity and respect.
We offer competitive salaries, comprehensive and attractive benefits packages along with a balanced work life. Memorial is home to a vibrant and dynamic community. There are opportunities at both St. John's campuses, including the Marine Institute, and Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook.
Thank you for your interest in Memorial. I look forward to working with all academic and administrative units to lead the continuing renewal of human resources policies and processes. Together, we will continue to create a more outstanding work environment for all employees.
