Thesis Title:
Uncommon Potential? Tourism and Community Sustainability in Burin, NL.
Research Description:
Rural coastal communities are facing many challenges associated
with
restructuring, including the transition from traditional
fisheries-based
economies to more diverse economic development. The tourism
industry in
Newfoundland and Labrador is largely focused on the environment and
culture of rural communities, and tourism development has been
promoted as an opportunity to advance sustainable community
development. My research will examine the potential linkages
between tourism and community sustainability.
Research Interests:
- Sustainable Community Development
- Interactive Governance of Coastal Resources
- Eco-Cultural Tourism
